Hit show promises rock n’ roll lovers a fun, trippy journey through the genre’s history
Marietta, Ga. (Feb. 3, 2016) – Producer and local rock n’ roll enthusiast, Scott Colson, brings his hit rock play to Marietta’s Earl Smith Strand Theatre March 4 and 5. Having debuted the original show at the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta, and performed it at the Cox Capital Theatre in Macon, Ga., Ghosts of Rock is now headed to the Historic Square in Marietta, Ga. for two nights of hilarious, trippy rock n’ roll fun. Tickets start at $29 and can be purchased through the Earl Smith Strand Theatre box office.
Ghosts of Rock riffs on Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” in that the two protagonists, brothers James, played by Bradlee Kyle, and Elmore, played by Benedetto Robinson, have lost their way musically, and so the Ghosts of Rock – Past, Present and Future – must intervene to help them find their true rhythm.
It’s 1983 and the boys’ band, the “Bellbottoms,” is at a crossroads: they can stay true to pure rock n’ roll or be wooed by 80s electronic pop, personified by the charming and hilarious character, “The Man,” played by Lucas Scott. Each Ghost of Rock – Past, Present and Future – shines a spotlight on blues and rock n’ roll history, educating the boys and the play’s audience alike. Classics from Bill Monroe and Elvis Presley, to Led Zeplin and KISS abound. –The show is an exciting rock journey replete with classic music, dazzling multi-media effects and rockin’ dance numbers.
“Rock n’ Roll is a blast to experience, and it’s that same energy and fun that inspires Ghosts of Rock,” remarks Ghosts of Rock playwright, Scott Colson. “The play is a funny, wild journey through the genre’s history, and show-goers are definitely going to have a great time from curtain up to the after party.”
